Lines offers five different practice modes, each designed to test your memory at different difficulty levels. You can practice the entire song or focus on specific parts you've created through chunking.
How to Start a Practice Session
- Tap on any lyrics card from the home screen
- You'll see your song details with two sections:
- Practice the full song - Practice all lyrics at once
- Practice by section - Practice individual parts (if you've chunked the song)
- Tap on “Full Song” or any specific part
- A bottom sheet will appear with practice mode options
- Select your preferred practice mode

Practice Mode 1: Familiarize
Difficulty: Easiest
Read through the lyrics line by line to familiarize yourself with the content.
How it works:
- Tap “Continue” to reveal the first line
- Read the line and tap “Continue” again to reveal the next line
- Continue until all lines are revealed
- Tap “Continue” to finish the session
Best for: First-time learning or reviewing lyrics you haven't practiced in a while.
Practice Mode 2: Select (Missing Words)
Difficulty: Easy-Medium
Complete each line by selecting the correct missing words from multiple options.
How it works:
- You'll see a line with 1-2 words replaced by blanks
- Multiple word options appear at the bottom
- Tap the correct word to fill in the blank
- If correct, the word appears in the line
- If incorrect, the word briefly flashes red - try again
- Continue until all lines are complete
Best for: Building word recognition and testing basic recall.
Practice Mode 3: Complete (Type Letter)
Difficulty: Medium
Type the first letter of missing words to fill in the blanks.
How it works:
- Each line has 1-3 missing words shown as blanks
- The keyboard appears automatically
- Type the first letter of the current missing word
- If correct, the word is revealed
- If incorrect, the input briefly flashes red
- You have 5 skips available (tap the skip arrow button)
- Continue until all lines are complete
Best for: Intermediate practice, testing first-letter recall.
Practice Mode 4: Review (Next Word)
Difficulty: Medium-Hard
Choose the next word in the sequence from six options.
How it works:
- You'll see the lyrics building word by word
- Six word options appear at the bottom
- Select the correct next word in the sequence
- Correct selections add the word to the line
- Incorrect selections are marked - the word briefly highlights
- Continue until all words in all lines are revealed
Best for: Testing word-by-word memory and sequence recall.
Practice Mode 5: Recall (First Letter)
Difficulty: Hardest
Type the first letter of every single word to test complete recall.
How it works:
- The keyboard appears automatically
- Type the first letter of each word, one at a time
- Correct letters reveal the word and advance to the next
- Incorrect letters briefly flash red
- You have 5 skips available
- Continue until all words in all lines are typed
Best for: Final testing and deep memorization verification.
Understanding Practice Results
After completing a practice session, you'll see a success screen showing:
- Completion checkmark - Visual confirmation of finishing
- Time spent - How long the practice session took
- Lines practiced - Number of lines you went through
- Accuracy (for modes with scoring) - Percentage of correct answers
You can then:
- Tap “Practice Again” to repeat the same session
- Tap “Done” to return to the song details
