What is Chunking?
Chunking is the process of dividing your lyrics into smaller, manageable sections (like verses, choruses, bridges, etc.). This allows you to practice specific parts of a song instead of the entire piece, making memorization more effective.
How to Chunk a Song into Parts
- After adding or editing lyrics, you'll be taken to the chunking screen
- You'll see your lyrics displayed line by line
- At the top, select a part type from the available badges:
- Verse (blue)
- Chorus (green)
- Intro (orange)
- Pre-Chorus (amber)
- Bridge (purple)
- Outro (rose)
To create a part:
- Tap the first line of the section you want to mark
- Tap the last line of that section
- The selected lines will be highlighted with the part type's color
To remove a part:
- Deselect the current part type (tap on it again to deselect)
- Tap on any line within an existing part to remove it
To clear all parts:
- Tap the brush/clean button in the bottom-right corner
- This removes all chunking and lets you start fresh
Tap “Done” when finished to save your parts.

Tips for Effective Chunking
- Start by identifying natural breaks in the song (verses, choruses, etc.)
- Keep parts to a manageable size (4-8 lines is often ideal)
- Color-coded parts make it easy to identify different sections visually
